Current Projects
Performing: Over the past few years, I have become fascinated with the idea of playing jazz in a chamber music setting. I am currently learning standard jazz repertiore on violin and cello, while researching jazz methodologies and curriculum in the area of jazz. I will incorporate what I learn into a Jazz Strings Curriculum, which will serve as my thesis for the University of Oregon in 2008. I have also been working diligently on my conducting studies, so I may be a solid orchestral conductor in my next teaching position. U of Oregon, Scribe 4: I am currently promoting the Scribe4 Music software at the U of Oregon. The software is designed to help teachers and students evaluate their own performance in the classroom using easy to use, video technology. For more information, please visit the Scribe4 website. http://img.uoregon.edu/scribe/html/index.html As a Student/GTF: I am assisting with the University and Campus Orchestras in Eugene, while studying instrumental conducting with Robert Ponto. In addition, I run a Jazz Strings Ensemble that explores a variety of jazz tunes from the strings perspective.

Jazz String Curriculum While at the University of Oregon, I am writing a jazz string curriculum that could be implemented in a high school setting. In this project, I will be addressing how to teach string students the basic concepts of jazz form, chord changes, and improvision using a variety of jazz repertiore. This will be an ongoing project over the next few (maybe 10 or more!) years. If you are interested in learning more about the project, or would like to participate with your ensemble, please send me an e-mail. jonathan@jonathanglawe.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Project Timeline
